It's Fall Y'all - Outside Edition

I already showed you our fall decor inside the house, now step outside with me for a quick look at what we did out there...

We didn't decorate very much, only around the front door area.  I grew up in a home where the decor was always autumn related instead of Halloween related so that's what I like to do too!

Here is the front door area. Just a couple of potted mums, some pumpkins, a home made wreath and a couple of home made signs.

The pumpkins came from Spooner Farms.  We went on a family pumpkin patch outing this past Monday (more on that later this week :]).  Our front stoop area isn't very big so we stuck with some more modest sized pumpkins.

This also home to a quick DIY sign I made a couple weeks ago.  I have a full tutorial on that coming soon too!

I love white pumpkins.  I think they are so pretty and they compliment our screen door so well!

I also made a "No Soliciting" sign for our front door to keep all year round.  We have a lot of door to door people in our town so hopefully this will end that! :]

I hung my home made wreath on our newly painted screen door.  I didn't document how I made it but it is a wreath form from the dollar store, some extra ribbon and an extra fall garland I had on hand.  I also had the "d" lying around so I fastened that on there to add a personal touch.  It was free, easy and adds a lot to the front of our home!

Between the paint color, screen door, brick chimney and fall flava happening here, I am in love! I think it looks so good!  Next spring we will be getting a new roof and adding some landscaping that lasts all year round so it will just keep getting better!

Happy Fall Y'all!

It's Fall Y'all!

And I am super excited for it!  Don't get me wrong I love me some summer but by the end of it I am ready for hibernation.  We are usually really busy so I love a quiet September and October before the holiday season and basketball start.

I spent some time (nap time) yesterday putting up my fall decor.  Every year I do it a little differently and I'm liking how it's looking this year!

Here are the shelves in our dining room.  I took everything off of them and started over with all things fall.

If you follow me on IG you probably saw that I posted my first stab at some chalkboard art.  I browsed Pinterest and copied some art I found from there and put it on my chalkboard in the kitchen...

This fall colored table runner was given to us as wedding gift and it is perfect for the fall season!

I am obviously very thankful with all my 'give thanks' signs... I want to change up the one that is in the dining room to say something else, I'm still figuring it out.

I have a bunch of fallish garlands that I dispersed around the house and I tried to display all my decor that feels like fall.

I still would like to get some gourds, scented pine cones and a couple of fall candles to finish it all off.  I am so ready for this festive time of year so BRING IT ON!

Are y'all ready for fall?

The Office

The Office is one of our favorite TV shows but it was also a room in our house that needed to be addressed.  Our Office or the Dobson Den has been a long time coming.  We knew right when we purchased our house that we wanted this room to be an office/last option guest room.
Here is how the room started out.  It had a horrible pink paint job and some weird burgundy carpet that was just lying on top of the hardwoods.  It was all sorts of bad, but this sort of bad is totally our thing.  We could see the potential.

After a paint job and adding some moulding near the top of each wall, this room became our temporary master since the upstairs was phase II of our home makeover and was completely inhabitable.

It completely lacked style and storage but we needed somewhere to rest our weary heads and this was our only option for the time being!

That spring, we decided that this was the perfect room to add french doors to our back yard.  Our house is so old it didn't have a sliding glass door so we wanted to make the back yard more accessible for us and our new pups.

Then we continued to sleep in there for another year...

We finally moved upstairs and after we did we through the office furniture in there.

Here is what the room looked like right before Cru was born.  Spoiler: It's scary!

Then I got my crazy pregnant lady hands on it and now the space looks like this:

We're at a good stopping point for now.  It's definitely not near completed, it's a total "work with what we have" space. Now that the baby toys are getting to be more, I am thinking of reworking this into and office/playroom/guestroom.  I have some fun ideas but it will have to wait until fall when we are done with the exterior projects.

Master Look

I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to do with our Master Bedroom...

I want it to be a comfortable space for Justin and I and something we both love.  I don't want it too masculine or too feminine but a space we both enjoy  I am very into the globalist look right now.  I love white walled rooms with punches of colors, textures and am especially in love with the southwestern/aztec like patterns that are out there.  Luckily the white walls give such a neutral base that all that is really needed to give the room some flava is some throw pillows, wood/natural accents and some green.

Pinterest has made my love for the globalist look grow and grow.  Here are some examples I specifically love.

We purchased our curtain rod from Lowes.  It has a good masculine feel with the dark wrought iron look but has a hint of femininity with the crystal finials.  I also like these because they will allow me to bring in black accents throughout the space.

I found these fun pillows on Etsy and other sites but there is no way I will pay more than $15 for a pillow.  So I will be going fabric shopping very soon! These will add the global feel we want for the space.

We also purchased this light from Lowes.

To change up the look I am going to use these light bulbs from Lowes as well.  I thought it would add a unique look to the light fixture.  Here's hoping I'm right!!
I also need to get a couple of lamps for our night stands.  I am deciding between a few different looks; an antique studious look like this red one is one of them.  Not sure about the color I'm thinking I need something in a dark finish to tie in the curtain rod and chandy...  Justin specifically mentioned this style so it would be nice to incorporate something he wants. =]
Another option I'm into are these wall sconces... I would definitely spray the base black though and the third option I'm thinking is this lamp. I think it would be a subtle addition to the room where we already have some crazy patterns and bold colors.

I really don't know what the best option would be...  I may have to purchase one of each and just try them out!

I am obsessed with the Fiddle Leaf Fig and would absolutely LOVE one in our room!  They look like they can get pretty big and I will need to research how to take care of them but aren't they the coolest!

I also want to have a little photo wall (shocker!) and will of course add some fun accessories.  The same theme will run into the bathroom so that there is a cohesive feel between the spaces. I am so ready to have our room done so we can focus on the nursery!

Ooops I Did it Again!

I redecorated the guest room...  I know, I know! It's a problem

It was only a month ago that I re-decorated the guest room and now I am re-decorating it AGAIN.

The last look was okay but I wasn't 100% about it.

The golden curtains made the warm grey paint color look a little off and that green chair was too big for that little corner.  It just wasn't right.

But now.... I LOVE this room!  It's almost done!  It's my favorite room in the house!

I got this gorgeous handmade blanket and all the colors are perfect for this space!

I found a couple more vintage suitcases and I love how they all have different patterns and textures!

I put white curtains back up and found a smaller chair for the corner. I'm loving the way its looking but I'm not sure how I am loving the black frames, mirror and lamp bases.

With that said, I am contemplating spray painting them.  I want to give them a couple coats of looking glass spray paint by Krylon.

I would like to achieve the look of these votive holders (see below). I'm hoping I can spray them and create an antique patina look.  The plan is to start with the frames and go from there.

I will keep you posted! Happy almost Friday!
