Baby Shower #2: Family

Three Saturdays ago I had my second baby shower! This one was all family and it was so much fun!  There were about 50 ladies there and it was so nice to see everyone!  Sorry I am posting it so late, I was hoping to acquire more pictures but haven't yet so here is what I have.  :)

All the Grandmas helped in hosting it and it was held at my mom's house.
The colors they chose were blue, green, brown and white.  Such sweet colors for a baby boy!

Part of the decor was a gift from my Mom and Stepdad.  They got a bunch of cute outfits and hung them from the mantle on the fire place, I can't wait to put a little body in those!

My cousin who is taking baking courses right now made the cute cake and cupcakes!  They were some of the yummiest I have ever had!

I surrounded by lots of people I love and it was such a laid back and fun shower!

I received so many wonderful gifts and am excited to get everything unpacked and set up in the little guys room (nope, I still haven't done it!).  Cru is already so loved and Justin and I feel so blessed to have the love and support of our family and friends!

I believe I am getting more photos this weekend and it will be fun to look through those! I know there is one with all the grandmas to be and great grandma to be that I want to see! I will share those when I get them :)

Guest room Changes

I grew bored with our guest room.  I wanted more color and a change. =]
I received these sheets from my aunt for Christmas and I love the bold turquoise pattern and wanted to make it work in the guest room.

So here is what I did:

Put my super cute new sheets on the bed,
Moved in the green chair from the living room,
Brought in different curtains since I stole the white one for the living room
and added some yellow/goldish pillows to accent the curtains.

I also brought in some black hardback books to accessorize...

and moved my vintage luggage rack and suitcase next to the dresser.

I had all the items used to change up this room.  It's great how just moving a furniture piece or an accessory to a different room can make all the difference!

I'm not totally content with it but until then, this will do.  I think I like the white curtains better but I'll sit on this for a bit and see how I like it. =]

Treasures!

I just wanted to give you a little rundown of treasures I have acquired in the past couple months. I have lots of cool vintage pieced now to add around the house. =]
I got these chair from my Great Aunt.  It looks like the 3 bears live here! =]

This chair is already situated in the living room and its pretty turquoise seat is the perfect accent color for the space.

This gorgeous hand carved rocker will someday live in the nursery...

As will as this little child sized rocker. =]

I also received two vintage food scales! I LOVE them and have been looking for one for a while!

One now lives in my dining room...

And this one is in my kitchen.

These turquoise goblets have a great vintage look and bring out more blue hues in the kitchen,

Don't you love all this color?  I do!
I also snagged some kitchen utensils that I didn't have. The cheese slicer has changed my life and the handheld mixer is great for smaller stuff I don't want to dirty the Kitchen Aide for.

These vintage Pyrex bowl and casserole dishes are perfect!  Don't they look great with my curtains?!

I also got this thing... I don't know what its called... a flour sifter?  Anyways, I needed it!

The most life changing treasure?.... These Paula Deen pots and pans my mom and step-dad got for us for Christmas!  I LOVE THEM and they match my kitchen perfectly!  They even got us a matching vintage looking tea kettle/carafe.  LOVE!  Thank Mama!

Christmas Gift Making

I love homemade gifts.  I think they are more personal and I like getting crafty and making things.  This year I only made a couple different things but next Christmas I fully intend on owning a sewing machine and making every gift I give.  Pretty ambitious I know, but I really want to do it!

One gift I knew for sure I was going to make was chalkboard wine glasses.  I had the chalkboard paint already from this project, and after the purchase of four wine glasses, had a fun unique gift at a low cost!

I was inspired by Pinterest and read a few different ways to apply the chalkboard paint to the bottom of the glass.  Some tutorials dipped the bottom in while other painted on.  I went for the painted on method because I thought it would be less messy and would give the paint less opportunity to drip.

I used a small sponge brush and added the chalkboard pain on thin layer by layer and set them on parchment paper to dry.

After it was dry, the chalk went on nicely and now my mother-in-law has four wine glasses to use for hosting and everyone can write their name on them so there's no oopsie switcheroos!

The next Christmas craft I chose to make was so easy and fun! I have been saving wine bottles for something and was excited to finally find a purpose for them!

I set 4 bottles at a time in the sink and soaked the labels off.  Once they were all dried out, I used the chalkboard paint again to paint a chalkboard square on the front of the bottle.

I picked up a couple packs of 12 free flow pourers for $4.99 each and put one on top of each bottle.

With the chalkboard paint on there, the gift receivers can used it for whatever the deem necessary!  Some ideas I gave them were soap, olive oil, coffee syrups and really anything else liquidish!

Many people received one of these this year and I still have a few a home that need to be gifted!

While perusing on Pinterest, I found some other ideas I can't wait to DIY...

These I plan to make with my future sewing machine:

At work, a group of ladies (including myself) and being taught how to knit by a co-worker.  I plan to make the following with my newly acquired skills:

Chunky Knit Scarfs
Blankets
Kitchen Extras
and much more!

A New Collection? I'm Thinking So!

One thing I forgot to share with you is the little souvenir that made it home with me from California! A Salt'n'Pepper shaker!

I love it so much because it's A. Disney and B. Old School.
It's adorable, Mickey and Minnie come out of the car to make your food taste better. Isn't that nice of them!

Now, to completely shift subjects, you may have noticed the little wish list that is to the right of my computer.  Yesterday, one of my best little buds Miss Stacy Jackson, dropped off a little present for me.  A just because present :]

She got me the Salt'n'Pepper shakers I wanted from Anthropologie! Looks like I have a new collection :]

Thanks again Stacy!  I love ya girl!!
