The Evolution of Our Upstairs Flooring

When we first bought the house, the upstairs had this awesome orangy-brown shaggy carpets well as many other problems as you can see.

One of the very first things we did after closing on the house was ripping that nasty out. The carpet was in the master, nursery and in the stairway...

For a long time we just left the floors bare wood.  We were never up there, other than to work so it was fine for the time.

After we were done painting Cru's room, the stairway and the master bed and bath, we contacted my uncle who owns a flooring store to see if we could buy carpet from him.  He was great to work with and was so helpful picking out the carpet.

$1500 later we had his installers come out and lay the carpet.  This was a project Justin and I didn't want to DIY.  We wanted it done right and not really knowing how to do it would have been frustrating and would have caused a fight for sure!

Justin stayed home from work that day to oversee the install and I instructed him to take photos!  He did a good job. =]

Here is the finished product! It looks great! I love the brown color. It's a great neutral and will hide dirt since I don't have time to vacuum every day.

So this is what we have now all throughout the upstairs!  With this done, we can now focus on moulding, moving up furniture, touch up paint, decorating, finishing the bathroom and all that other fun stuff!

This was definitely the necessary first step to start all the finishing touches of our upstairs. I can't wait!
